Top 10 reasons not to answer the phone

August 29th, 2008 by Sean Whaling

10) Call display shows Private Number. Hmmm…who could that be?

9) Sometimes moving your arm is a struggle.

8) It’s Sunday morning (and I’m pretty sure it isn’t God calling).

7) Call display shows “Prize Claim Center.” Somehow, I never actually win.

6) I once donated to the Shriners. I don’t mind the Shriners. But apparently now I’m on a list called “guys who donate.”

5) The robot voice on the other end starts out by saying, “Don’t hang up…” That’s usually a good time to hang up.

4) Admit it. Sometimes you just want to enjoy the vibrate setting for awhile.

3) Apparently, my vehicle warranty is set to expire…2nd notice.

2) The phone rings the moment you sit down for dinner.

1) Finally, if you want to play the Telemarketer Mini-Lottery, pick up the call and demand a written copy of their do-not-call policy, which they are required by law to provide. Any telemarketing company failing to provide this owes you $500 under the TCPA (Telephone Consumer Protection Act). It might not be a $350 million jackpot, but it’ll more than pay for the dinner they ruined.
