Introduce Yourself and Get to the Point – 7 Steps to Successful Cold Calling

April 2, 2009

Our next topic in successful cold calling is introducing yourself and getting to the point.

Do not ask a stranger on the telephone, “How are you, today?” They realize that you don’t know them and you really don’t care how they are. So they think you’re wasting their time. Don’t fake familiarity.

Here’s how your conversation with the decision maker might begin: “Hello, Mary. We haven’t met yet. My name is Jeff Mowatt, with JC Mowatt Real Estate. I wonder if you might help me. The reason I’m calling is that I understand that you’re looking to sell you home. Is that true?

Notice the phrase I wonder if you might help me. Showing humility this way appeals to the other person’s desire to come to your rescue.

The next post will deal with how to give a benefit statement.

Hahahaha, very cheeky phrase to be honest but yes it does indicate a good sign and one should remain humble all the down, a realtor no matter how big should serve their customers with utcost care and respect.

And yes, on the first call you never want to ask how are you? That’s a big NO! Even that person wouldn’t feel like answering to that question and will immediately lose interest in your call.
