Positive News – Pending Home Sales Up 3 Months in a Row

June 2, 2009

It’s been a long wait for positive news to come out of the real estate market, but now we’ve received the report that pending home sales are up 3 months in a row.

Pending home sales rose for the third consecutive month in April, according to a report from the National Association of Realtors; with some economists saying enough consecutive positive traction has occurred to call a possible bottom in the U.S. housing market.

With low interest rates and an $8000 credit for first time home buyers, agents have seen more buyers put contracts on houses. For those that still have good credit and looking for their first home, this is a great deal.

Since markets react differently in areas across the US, how has the real estate market been in your area?

It is good that things are turning around. I have just started to notice it also in my area.

What about the market for mbile homes? I know there may not be one but do you think there might be a possibility?

The Austin real estate market has started to see some improvement. We have seen more sales (adjusting for seasonal affects) than what we saw in December in January. I am hoping mortgage rates will stay under 6 for awhile.

I can tell you that in our area short sales and low priced homes are selling fast. It is actually almost a sellers market in our area for homes under 150k. As for the rest of the market it seems like we are holding steady with the rest of Minnesota.
