Real Estate Branding – The Basics

August 4, 2009

A firm branding strategy is the first step in becoming successful in the real estate world. Without one, you have no name, no marketing, nothing. The brands you can remember, are the ones that work, you just need to ask yourself, why? We can all recognize branded sounds, the little noise on television promoting Intel, the whistle at the end of every McDonalds advertisement. Just a few examples of how we all subconsciously identify a brand.

One of the key starting points is a logo. There are thousands of freelance designers online and offline who can put together your ideal logo, at no serious cost. Something professional, which you can use on all of your corporate materials. Clip-art is not good enough to represent your company. Consistency is very important. Fonts, colors and logo’s need to be the same across the whole span of your marketing. To build a recognizable name, you need to stick with what you choose for some time, therefore making your mind up to begin with is extremely vital.

If your brand is unique, and stands out from the crowd, it reminds people of the brand benefit. Every time someone see your logo, slogan, and color scheme.

The success of a brand is reliant on three things:

A theme with a consistent logo, slogan and color scheme.
The material or format they are produced on.
The way the two are distributed.

If you have an excellent logo and brand theme, you need to have it put onto high quality products. Printed business cards on special cut and engraved card is extremely common now, where people have realized they need something which feels good to hold, and something people will bother to keep.

Distribution of a brand needs to be done in the most effective way, as efficiently as possible. Many companies use promo teams, banners and online marketing schemes, which if done correctly, can push a brand high up into the public eye.

All three of these are dependent on each other. Where one falls behind, the other two suffer too. There is little point in using an excellent logo and color scheme on some of the finest, most creative and interesting paper, when none of it is distributed enough. Branding needs to function effectively in all areas to succeed.

I would say that you present not three things, but only two and the third one is a combination of previous ones! And you may agree that there are a lot of such combinations!

Thanks so much for this info. I too agree that branding is crucial in today’s real estate market. Consumers need to know who to trust, and who they can rely on. Developing a credible “brand” really is key.

I am getting ready to redo my business cards. After reading this I will give the process more thought. This would be the time to expand to more than just business cards.
