Setting Up Meta Title Tags on Your Real Estate Website

November 23, 2009

The title tag is what the user will see at the top of the browser window, as well as in the search results as the linked title to your Web page. Title tags help search engines determine your web page’s relevancy for certain keyword phrases.

Since real estate is geographically focused, you’ll want to make sure to set up the title tag to display the cities/towns that you do business.

For example, let’s say you are ABC Realty and you do business in the state of Florida, specifically in the cities of Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Hollywood.

You will want to set up your home page title tag to display this:

ABC Realty | Miami – Fort Lauderdale – Hollywood | Florida – FL

This way, when someone searches for you website using the search term “ABC Realty Hollywood FL”, your website has a better chance to be at the top of the search engines since your title tag includes all of those search terms.

There are other aspects of search engine optimization that you will need to perform on your real estate website and having good title tags is an important first step to getting more traffic to your website.
