Lead Generation from your Website

December 7, 2009

Generating leads from your website may be easier than you think. Unfortunately, too many agent websites make it hard for a potential customer to even find how to contact you! Even brokers who have websites can learn how to manage online leads effectively.

How can you generate more online leads?

1. Position your “Contact Us” button in a prominent location.

Don’t make it hard for someone to find out how to contact you. You will want to place your “Contact Us” button somewhere prominent on the website. Typically at the top of your website or on the side, but always above the fold.

2. Make your contact form stand out.

This can simply be using a different color for your “Contact Us” button. If you website uses a lot of blue color, make your “Contact Us” button in red or green.

3. Make your contact form simple

Of course there are certain things you need to collect on a form such as name, telephone number, email address. There may be some other items that you can make optional such as how soon they are looking to purchase or sell, price range for a home, features of the house all to better qualify the lead. You just have to remember, the more items you want to collect, the fewer leads you will generate.

These are just a couple of points to generate more leads on your website, if you have other strategies that work well for you please leave those in the comments below.

All of these are really good tips. I do not have a contact form on my site but do have an OPT in form, which I tried to make pop out.

Great advice. Keeping it simple, especially for your contact form, is something I think a lot of agents over look. Even keeping your SITE simple is something I recommend to agents until they get used to testing what works on their site and what doesn’t. My “simple” DIY site currently outperforms my “fancy” expensive site by a fair margin.

Great blog by-the-way!

Wonderful post, and look, I got link love twice! :-) One of these days I’ll have to write another post of folks I follow often; not that I haven’t done it already.

It seems so simple, but frequently I am digging all over the place on a site for either the telephone number or contact page in which to send an email.

Quite true, I’ve seen some sites of agents who have placed their ‘Contact Us’ in 2 or 3 places, making sure if even a single question arises in the mind of their visitor, they do contact them but some of the sites are very poorly built and doesn’t even contain a contact system, just provides their email address. But I would say many of the agents are aware about this technique and do follow it.

It’s a really important form to have and I agree, nothing annoys me more than giving out even tiniest of details for asking just one question on any site unless it’s an issue of health or any other important thing.
